I like both focal lengths on APS-C, but I'd probably tend to use the 21 along with a 40 more of the time than the 28mm. So regards FoV, you have to pick which one is going to be most satisfying to you. On the R-D1, the 28mm lens is a wide-normal and the 21mm lens is a wide. If the 28mm Ultron is up to par as far as general image quality is concerned (im not a pixel peeper) then Id be happy to save a few hundred bucks, and take a step or 2 back from my subject. Im a casual shooter, new to range finders, looking for a semi-wide standard lens that will satisfy me in the quality dept not to have to replace it for a while. Is the extra cost of the 21mm reflected in sheer image quality or/and is it simply a result of a more complex lens design/manufacture? Trying to decide between the 2 for use on a Epson RD-1.Would prefer the 21mm for its wider FOV (32ish mm equiv) but very much prefer the 28mm lower cost and smaller size. Voigtlander 28mm Ultron II VM - this one I haven't found one used anywhereĪnyone got any good ideas on lenses to fit the bill? Preferably as small as possible and decently priced on the used market.Anyone got hands on experience with both the 21mm 1.8 and the 28mm 2.0? Minolta M-Rokkor 28mm f/2.8 M - again, seem pretty hard to come by ZEISS Biogon T* 28mm f/2.8 ZM - would there be much real size difference between this and the Voigtlander 28/1.9? I haven't seen this in person so if anyone has any input that'd be great!Ĭanon 28mm f/2.8 LTM - although to be honest these seem quite hard to find for me It's quite long, and having my filter + step up ring only makes it that bit longer - it sticks out almost 6cm from the camera body.ĭoes anyone know of any cheap third party 28mm lenses prefereably around the f/2-2.8 max aperture mark that is on the smaller side? Looking to buy used for cheapest prices. Currently on my M-Mount R-D1s I have a Voigtlander Ultron APSH 28/1.9 which I love! My only real gripe with it is that it's a teeny bit on the larger and heavier side.
